The current year has proved to be the game-changer for Instagram. The social media app is now a wholesome platform, offering people the stage to express their opinion, talent, and creativity.
Many times we delete posts, IGTV videos, and reels out of anxiety or by mistake. Among the many updates that Instagram has rolled out this year, one of them is the “recently deleted” feature that lets you restore the deleted posts.
One of the reasons, stated by Instagram for introducing this innovative feature, is not to let people lose their content to the hands of cyber hackers, who do so out of hateful intent and sometimes even for no evident reason at all. Instagram now requires user authentication to delete a post permanently on its platform. This is one step ahead to foster data security and trust among Instagram users.
Let us learn how to bring back the deleted posts on our profile timelines.
- Access your profile via the official Instagram app
- Tap on the settings(the hamburger icon) present on the topmost right-hand side of the screen
- Scroll down to the accounts section and select the “recently deleted” option. This will take you to all your deleted posts, visible on the screen in the grid format.
- Tap on the post of your concern, click on the three-dot icon and follow the instructions
- You can restore the post or permanently delete it. Take the call
- For restoring a post, Instagram needs to verify the user. It does so by One-Time Password (OTP), which is sent on the user’s phone number and email id.
- Lastly, the user is asked to enter the OTP. A correct OTP confirms the user’s identity and completes the authentication process.
- If you succeed in the process, the Instagram post will be restored or deleted forever, as per your choice.
Conclusion
It’s worth noting that the restoration period is 30 days after which the posts will be automatically deleted. However, Stories can only be accessed and restored for up to 24 hours after deletion. This feature is available for both iOS and Android users. As of now, this feature has been successfully released in many regions of the world including India. In other news, Instagram has also hinted at the addition of various new features concerning user safety.
