WhatsApp Messenger is evidently the most resourceful way to text. A texting app that does not charge your cell service instead runs flawlessly through an Internet service extending an abundance of multimedia features.
However, WhatsApp may be famous for numerous reasons among the public, but there is one factor that never fails to impress anyone. And, that is the feature of WhatsApp status.
Why is the WhatsApp status feature the most famous among all its features?
WhatsApp has always been exuberant regarding additional features and new updates. Within months of its launch, it went out, spreading across nations as the most common texting platform. Moreover, the textual features here are wonderfully complemented with features like:
- Video conferences
- Group video conference
- Visual emojis
- WhatsApp stickers etc
But above all this, the most cherished one is the WhatsApp status idea.
It hasn’t been long when WhatsApp updated its textual status feature to a catchy visual representation. Now, the users can post
- Images
- Videos
- GIFs etc., as their status.
This status will remain visible to your contacts for the next 24 hours in the status section.
- Before this feature, users were constrained to put up text-based permanent status below their WhatsApp profiles.
- The WhatsApp status does not limit the number of bars you want to put in.
- However, the videos cannot exceed more than 30 seconds.
- If your video is more than 30 seconds, WhatsApp will automatically crop it out to 30 seconds. But you can put it up in parts.
The users highly acclaimed the WhatsApp status feature. This was because some people do not go around posting a lot on other active social media.
- But WhatsApp remains restricted to intimate relations, and thus, this feature was readily accepted by the ones who tend to stay partially reticent with their views and photos.
- Moreover, it offers the feature of hiding your status from the ones you want or share it only with the ones you like.
All in all, the status concept has been a big success. Yet, many people sulk over the fact that WhatsApp explicitly reveals the viewers’ list of statuses. So, if that’s what bothers you, here are two ways to watch WhatsApp status without having your name in the view list.
Official method to watch WhatsApp status without altering them
WhatsApp has extended a privacy policy where you can switch off the ‘read recipients’ feature. After switching it off:
- No one can figure out whether you saw their message or not. The ticks will never turn blue.
- And also, your name will not pop up in the status’ ‘views‘ list.
To obtain this supreme level of privacy, all you need to is:
- Look for the three dots that happen to be the menu on your main WhatsApp screen.
- Click on that, and you will notice a drop-down menu open, select settings.
- From settings, go to the Account option.
- After clicking on Account, you will notice an option named ‘Privacy.’ Select it.
- Once you select it, you will find a toggle called ‘read recipients.’
- Turn that toggle off, and you are done.
However, there’s one catch to this method. It does offer you anonymity while viewing WhatsApp status, but also, you will not be able to see who viewed your status.
Once you turn off the read recipients toggle, neither will you know if others saw your message, nor will you have any information regarding your status views.
It may work well with many people, but others find this disturbing. So here’s another way:

It may go against WhatsApp standards, but it does not involve any form of hacking. Here’s what you need to do:
- Firstly, you need to switch on the auto media download option.
- To do this, select the menu option in your WhatsApp. The three dots on the right side are the menu option
- Subsequently, select the settings option.
- After that, hop over to the ‘Data and storage usage‘ section.
You will be directed to a window with three options under media auto-download:
- When using mobile data
- When using WiFi
- When roaming
- Select all the three options there and subsequently check the boxes against the photos and videos option.
End the process by clicking OK. - Now that you have successfully turned on the auto media download feature, it’s time to proceed to the next step.
- Get yourself a file manager. Over there, switch on the option for ‘Hidden File View.’
- Then proceed towards the WhatsApp status folder.
- In order to reach this folder location, open internal storage>WhatsApp>Media.
- There you will find a folder called hidden statutes.
- Inside this folder will lie all the videos and images of the status uploaded.
By following this method, you can view all status without even opening WhatsApp. Plus, there will be no identification here; your view will not be listed in the view list.
