Keeping Up with the Professional Technological Curve

September 9, 2023 by Tejas Maheta

Now more than ever, technology matters in business. This is true in a basic way, with properly functioning everyday tools like computers and cloud systems being integral to allowing businesses to function on a daily basis, but it’s also about more specialized tools that can take you ahead of your competitors.

Falling behind here can be daunting, as it feels as though new technologies emerge every day that only widen the gap between you and the most technologically advanced brands in your business. With finances being a limited resource in business, keeping up with this curve might mean being selective with what you choose to pursue.

Keeping Up with the Professional Technological Curve

Web and App Design

How customers interact with your brand has changed, and it continues to do so. It’s not just about face-to-face interactions, it’s about how they view your content on social media, the traffic that you gain on your website, and the data that you gain from this, and it’s about how your official app sometimes provides your primary service.

Of course, this means that the aesthetic and design of these pages has to be intuitive and accessible, emphasizing a clear and navigational user interface, but what about the function? Taking the technology one step further can keep you ahead of technological curve, utilizing technologies like an open source API gateway that can create an incredibly responsive and flexible user experience that keeps people coming back.

The Cloud

As mentioned previously, cloud technology is something that’s gone from being a novelty to something more generally integrated into every business. Tools that you might use to collaborate with your team across large distances such as Google Drive are examples of cloud technology, and the list is far more extensive than you might realize. However, the cloud is also incredibly flexible and varied, and is able to offer your business a level of security that might not have been possible before.

This security isn’t only made possible due to the level of backing up that it allows for, but also in how it changes security systems to be more dynamic and responsive to any potential breaches or issues that are detected with your business. In this instance, keeping up with the technological curve is less about your customers, and more about ensuring your own business doesn’t fall prey to attacks on outdated technology.

AI

It’s difficult to talk about modern business technologies without mentioning artificial intelligence (AI). While it’s something that many businesses have adopted into their own operations by this point, it’s also something that’s still very new, and developing more every day. This generates an air of uncertainty about its future application that can make some businesses hesitant to fully jump on board with it.

Despite this, however, the advantages that it does offer to some businesses can widen the gap between them and competitors to the degree that it’s difficult to justify not using it. This issue is further complicated by how its implementation can affect your human workers, and what making a decision in this area can do to your brand image.
