Motherhood is not an easy job. They don’t get a day off; it is a 24×7 job and mothers are never off-duty. Also, mothers have to continuously put up with our tantrums without a single frown on their face. Thus, mothers deserve a special day for themselves more than anyone else.
Claiming just one single day in the name of mother doesn’t justify as their hard work should be appreciated every day, but then this one day makes her feel more important than the rest of the days.
The first Mother’s day was celebrated in the year 1908 when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother Ann Jarvis in St. Andrews Methodist Church. However, it was only after President Woodrow Wilson signed the proclamation in 1924 that Mother’s Day became a public holiday.Since then, second Sunday of May is celebrated as Mother’s Day all over the world.
In honour of Mother’s Day, here are 10 quotes which prove mothers are thebest:
-
“A mother’s love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity; it dates all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path.”
-
“Mothers, I believe, intoxicate us. We idolize them and take them for granted. We hate them and blame them and exalt them more thoroughly than anyone else in our lives. We sift through the evidence of their love, reassure ourselves of their affection and its biological genesis. We can steal and lie and leave and they will love us.”
-
“Because even if the whole world was throwing rocks at you, if you had your mother at your back, you’d be okay. Some deep-rooted part of you would know you were loved. That you deserved to be loved.”
-
“I can imagine no heroism greater than motherhood.”
-
“Mothers and their children are in a category all their own. There’s no bond so strong in the entire world. No love so instantaneous and forgiving.”
-
“Biology is the least of what makes someone a mother.”
-
“To describe my mother would be to write about a hurricane in its perfect power.”
-
“Any mother could perform the jobs of several air-traffic controllers with ease.”
-
“Most mothers are instinctive philosophers.”
-
“All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.”

Mothers play the most important role in our lives from the moment we are born. They feed us, protect us, support us and help us whenever we need themto. But mothers are the most underappreciated personin our lives as we seldom take the time out to thank them for what they have done and keep doing for us. This Mother’s Day, use the opportunity to tell her how much she means to you and how grateful you are for all her efforts. Happy Mother’s Day!
