How to remove Roku channels

December 28, 2024 by Tejas Maheta

Roku devices are very popular streaming devices that support all the OTT platforms as well as other cable channels. Rokus have gained this popularity because of their ability to turn any screen into a smart screen. Another cool fact about Roku is that you can remove any app you want so that your home screen looks neat and organized.

It also helps in accessing your favorite app without wasting time on empty browsing. Another great feature that comes with Roku is the availability of cloud service. If you have a shared cloud profile and you log in with that profile on your new Roku device, all your old apps will be transferred. However, in some cases, you may not need all of the old apps; this is where the app removal feature becomes even more relevant. In this article, we will provide you with a comprehensive guide on how to remove Roku channels.

Get on Roku’s home screen

Removing unwanted apps from the Roku home screen is a fairly simple and universal process. That is to say; the steps remain the same irrespective of the device you have with you.

All you need is the Roku remote, a stable internet connection, and obviously, a Roku device. The duration of this entire process is also minimal. If you are fluent with your device, it will only take you a minute to get rid of the app that’s been sitting uselessly on the home screen.

Highlight the concerned app

Now, we do not mean permanent markers when we say highlight. Just your remote is sufficient for the task. If you have no clue on how to highlight an app, don’t worry, we have got you covered.

To highlight an app, simply toggle on the icon, and you will notice a green border over this icon. Here, you can choose to delete the app or move it. If you do not use the app at all, the best action would be to delete it from your home screen. However, if you use an app less frequently, you can simply move it down the order.

Press the options button

On your remote, locate the options button that is marked as *. Once you have highlighted the concerned app, click on this button. You will now see a menu with plenty of options. In the said options, toggle to the remove channel option.

You will notice that the option has been highlighted in blue. Now, press the Ok button on your remote. You can use this same process to move the channel down the order, as discussed earlier.

Confirm your action

Once you press the Ok button, you will notice a prompt on your screen. This is your Roku device trying to confirm your selection. Toggle to the Remove option on the prompt message and click the Ok button again.

Now, the process is complete, and the app is removed from your home screen effective immediately. You can repeat these steps for all the available apps on your Roku device. This is a standout feature because many streaming devices do not allow the removal of some of the per-installed apps.
