How To Resolve Microsoft Outlook ‘Disconnected’ Issue On Your PC Or Laptop

It has been able to manage the entire crew of people together at a single platform. These applications help the users to manage calendaring, tasks, and contacts talents all at once. That is why people around the world use them.

Understanding Microsoft Outlook

Many people who have been using Microsoft Suite’s programs for years do not understand its working. That is why when the program stops working; nobody knows what to do. Microsoft Outlook is an E-mail client and Personal Information Manager (PIM). It is available as part of Microsoft’s Office suite, which can be used globally.

  • It has numerous specifications and functions, which makes it one of the best communication servers for businesses.
  • It enables the employees of the company to share all the address links through a single server on Share-point.

Even if you have a PC or desktop, if the Microsoft Outlook gets disconnected, you must get it resolved as soon as possible; the following method can help you do it in a better and faster way.

Restart your desktop computer

It is expected that sometimes Microsoft Outlook shows ‘disconnected’ through an alert message. But you don’t have to panic. The first step is the most essential is turning off the PC and starting it again. When the program shows ‘disconnected,’ it will stop you from sending or receiving any emails.

This program stops suddenly without any warning, so you are left hanging with no solution in hand. It is the best method to restart your PC because that helps the operating system to relaunch the application. Even though this is the easiest method, for which you require no technical skills, if it doesn’t work, then you must go for other methods.

Ping the server to check network connection

Even after restarting the PC, it shows the same error, so it is important to check the network connections. Ping is a utility or a command. You can easily find it in an operating system. It is used to determine whether the ‘disconnected’ issue is related to the server/host. The speed of networks between one party and another party involved in the communication can be checked by pinging the server.

  • Run the utility from the Start option on the PC
  • Type CMD and enter to open the Command Prompt window
  • Type ‘Ping – followed with the name of Exchange Server’. Enter to move ahead.
  • You shall receive the responses on the screen after a few seconds.
  • If the responses show Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0″, you can be asserted that there is no issue with the network connections.

Check active directory (LAN) account password settings

You need to check the active directory (LAN) for account password settings since there is no problem with connectivity. However, this step is essential if you want to be assured that your Microsoft Outlook account has been suspended or expired.

  • Go to the Domain account to check if the account is locked or the password has expired.
  • You may get a request to Reset Password, go to the link, and change the password for renewal.
  • Access the active directory and then clock on the ‘Users’ tab.
  • Select the user whose password you want to reset and click on the Reset Password option.
  • When you enter and confirm the new password, your problem should be solved.

Determine whether the program is in offline or online mode

This issue usually occurs when Microsoft Outlook has suddenly gone from Online mode to Offline mode. No feature of the domain account can work if you have accidentally chosen Offline mode due to a network connection issue.

  • Open the Outlook application.
  • On the outlook window, click on the disconnected option in the bottom right corner.
  • See the checkbox on the context list, which shows the ‘Offline’ mode option.
  • Uncheck the checkbox showing ‘work offline’ to reset the settings for online mode.

All of these methods should resolve the problem of the Microsoft outlook account showing ‘disconnected.’ These methods are easy and quick solutions to resolve such issues.
