Connect your iPhone to a Wi-Fi network

If you are a user setting up your iPhone for the first time or need to connect to a new network on your iPhone, follow the following steps to access the internet. You can access any Wi-Fi, whether public, private, or hidden Wi-Fi network.

  • Go to the settings on your iPhone
  • Scroll down to find Wi-Fi in the settings menu and tap
  • Tap on the Wi-Fi you wish to connect to
  • A box will appear and now fill in the password of the network
  • Tap on the Join option on the upper right and corner of your screen
Your iPhone will connect to the Wi-Fi network.

If you want to have access to a hidden Wi-Fi network from your iPhone, follow these steps:

  • Launch Settings on your iPhone
  • Go to the Wi-Fi option
  • A list of networks will appear and scroll down to the bottom to tap on “Others..”
  • In the box, type the name of the network you want to connect to
  • Select the Security Type for the network (WEP, WPA, WPA2, WPA Enterprise, WPA2 Enterprise)
  • After selecting the security type, tap on the “Other Network” option and return to the previous screen
  • Enter the password, then tap join in the upper right-hand corner.

There should be a blue tick on the Wi-Fi network’s side to check if you are connected.

How to connect your iPad to a Wi-Fi network

You can easily connect the iPad to public and protected Wi-Fi networks. Follow these steps to connect to a Wi-Fi network:

  • On your iPad home screen, click on the Settings option
  • Tap on the Wi-Fi option
  • Move the Wi-Fi slider on the right side to start
  • A list of networks will appear on your iPad screen, and next to each Wi-Fi network, there are locks and signals.
  • It shows which ones are private networks and how strong their signals are.
  • Now to connect to a public network, click on the network option
  • Click on join, and if your iPad is connected to it, a blue tick will appear on its left side
  • Now to access a private Wi-Fi, you need a password and click on the network name
  • Enter the password in the pop window.
  • Tap on the joint option, and a blue tick will appear

If your password is correct, you can connect to the network and get online. If the password is incorrect, try entering it again or troubleshooting your connection.

If you want to get online faster on your iPad, then you can use a shortcut with the help of a Control Centre. Like if you are at your home and office and tired of connecting your Wi-Fi through settings, use the Control Centre.

  • Swipe down from the upper right corner of the screen
  • The control center will appear and tap on the Wi-Fi icon displayed on the screen.
  • Your Wi-Fi will automatically detect a network and connect to it.

How to connect iPad to iPhone personal hotspot?

In case you can’t find a Wi-Fi network nearby, you can still get an internet connection on your iPad. Using the Personal Hotspot of an iPhone, you can connect to the iPad with its cellular internet connections.
Follow these steps to connect your iPad to the iPhone via Wi-Fi.

  • Go to the setting option on the iPad
  • Now select the name of the device sharing the personal hotspot.
  • Click on join, and you will get an internet connection.

If your iPhone or iPad won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network

  • Check your router if it’s on or not and see if you are within the range of the network. The iPhone might not connect to the Wi-Fi as it is too far away from the router.
  • Go to the settings options and click on Wi-Fi to see if it is on. Check if the network you want to connect to is showing a blue tick on its left side.
  • Sometimes even if your password is correct, your iPhone or iPad might show “ unable to join the network.” In such cases, restart your device and enter the password again.
  • Check if there is an issue with the network, and you can check this by clicking on the network name.
For example: it can show a “no internet connection” alert below the network’s name. To resolve this issue, tap on the network to get more information.
  • Restart your iOS device, and if the Wi-Fi is still not connected, restart the Modem, Router and unplug it, then plug it back in.
  • If your device still doesn’t connect, go to the network settings and reset your networks. It will reset Wi-Fi networks and passwords, along with VPN and cellular settings
  • .

When you find a free open Wi-Fi, be mindful of your security and never make purchases or open a bank account over an unknown network.
