How to connect your iPad to a Wi-Fi network
You can easily connect the iPad to public and protected Wi-Fi networks. Follow these steps to connect to a Wi-Fi network:
- On your iPad home screen, click on the Settings option
- Tap on the Wi-Fi option
- Move the Wi-Fi slider on the right side to start
- A list of networks will appear on your iPad screen, and next to each Wi-Fi network, there are locks and signals.
- It shows which ones are private networks and how strong their signals are.
- Now to connect to a public network, click on the network option
- Click on join, and if your iPad is connected to it, a blue tick will appear on its left side
- Now to access a private Wi-Fi, you need a password and click on the network name
- Enter the password in the pop window.
- Tap on the joint option, and a blue tick will appear
If your password is correct, you can connect to the network and get online. If the password is incorrect, try entering it again or troubleshooting your connection.

How to connect iPad to iPhone personal hotspot?
In case you can’t find a Wi-Fi network nearby, you can still get an internet connection on your iPad. Using the Personal Hotspot of an iPhone, you can connect to the iPad with its cellular internet connections.
Follow these steps to connect your iPad to the iPhone via Wi-Fi.
- Go to the setting option on the iPad
- Now select the name of the device sharing the personal hotspot.
- Click on join, and you will get an internet connection.
If your iPhone or iPad won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network
- Check your router if it’s on or not and see if you are within the range of the network. The iPhone might not connect to the Wi-Fi as it is too far away from the router.
- Go to the settings options and click on Wi-Fi to see if it is on. Check if the network you want to connect to is showing a blue tick on its left side.
- Sometimes even if your password is correct, your iPhone or iPad might show “ unable to join the network.” In such cases, restart your device and enter the password again.
- Check if there is an issue with the network, and you can check this by clicking on the network name.
